OUR LECTURES (UTAG) ARE STILL ON STRIKE, SSA-UoG SUSPENDS STRIKE ACTION

  To your information UTAG are still on strike, no official communique has yet been released to call off the strike. In other development, The Senior Staff Association Universities of Ghana (SSA-UoG) and the Federation of Universities Senior Staff Association (FUSSAG have suspended their strike action. A statement signed by Zakaria Mohammed, National Chairman of the SSA-UoG on Monday August 9 said “I write on behalf of the National  Executives Councils of the Senior Staff Association Universities of Ghana (SSA-UoG) and the Federation of Universities Senior Staff Association (FUSSAG), to suspend our industrial strike action which was declared on August 2, 2021, with immediate effect. Let's keep our fingers crossed to see the turn of event on this matter from tomorrow. Thanks.

NLC HEADS BACK TO COURT TO COMPEL UTAG TO COMPLY WITH COURT ORDERS ELSE RISK FACING SANCTIONS...

 The National Labour Commission hints on going back to court to compel UTAG to call off what it terms as 'illegal' strike action. This was disclosed by the executive secretary of the commission, Ofosu Asamoah in an interview which was aired by 3New.com on its official Facebook handle. He furthered to say that UTAG risk forfeiting their months salary, or forfeiting the number of days they have stayed out of work. Again he made it known that the action by the executive to act in contravention of the court orders was tantamount to a contempt of court which is liable by an imprisonment or a fine. He again said the employers are at will to terminate their appointment without notice and the executives prosecuted. He made known that the above mentioned are likely possibility that could result if they remain adamant to the call by the court and the commission to call off the strike action and come back to the negotiation table for resolve. UTAG REFUSES TO CALL OFF STRIKE DESPITE INJUNCTION

 Despite effort by the National Labour Commission to get aggrieved University lectures back to their various lectures halls to do what they do best has been met with quiet to the opposite. The National Labour Commission on Saturday, 6th August, 2021 secured an interlocutory injunction against UTAG to restrain them from further embarking on the strike action. However the new twist to the whole broahaha is that 13 universities have come into equal terms against the ruling and have subsequently signed a memoradum to express their solidarity against the court orders and thus sending the clear signal their decision to carry on with their initial position on the matter in total contravention with the court orders.  The UTAG on Monday, 4 of August, 2021 declared a national a nation wide strike to trumpet their grievances to the government to better their conditions of service.
