NLC HEADS BACK TO COURT TO COMPEL UTAG TO COMPLY WITH COURT ORDERS ELSE RISK FACING SANCTIONS...

The National Labour Commission hints on going back to court to compel UTAG to call off what it terms as 'illegal' strike action. This was disclosed by the executive secretary of the commission, Ofosu Asamoah in an interview which was aired by 3New.com on its official Facebook handle.

He furthered to say that UTAG risk forfeiting their months salary, or forfeiting the number of days they have stayed out of work. Again he made it known that the action by the executive to act in contravention of the court orders was tantamount to a contempt of court which is liable by an imprisonment or a fine. He again said the employers are at will to terminate their appointment without notice and the executives prosecuted. He made known that the above mentioned are likely possibility that could result if they remain adamant to the call by the court and the commission to call off the strike action and come back to the negotiation table for resolve.

Citing the case of lecturers of Colleges of Education and Government and reference, he indicated that the former forfeited her salary for holding such illegal strike action.

On Monday, 4th August 2021 UTAG embarked on a nationwide strike thus calling it's members to withdraw their services indefinitely to press home what they call better seeking conditions of service.

Meanwhile all efforts of NLC to get them to get back to work have been fruitless.

Howbeit, many students on various campuses have decided to pack their bag and baggages home, whiles others are on the various campuses await the come back of their lectures to complete the semester successful.

Furthermore Universities such as University of Ghana has called off their end of semester examinations that was slated to the begin the same day the strike was embarked upon.
